5K Open Race

The 5K open race will begin at 11:00 AM.  This race is for men and women in the following age classes:

• 19 and Under
• 20 - 39
• 40 - 49
• 50 - 59
• 60 and Over

This race has been selected to be included in the 2008 USATF-NE Cross-Country Grand Prix and the Eastern New England Trail Race Series.

Awards include free pairs of Inov-8 trail running shoes and Vibram FiveFingers footwear.  Gift certificates from Marathon Sports will be awarded to the top three finishers in each class!  Marathon Sports is the source for all your training needs.  Inov-8 makes great trail shoes.  Based in England's last wilderness, Inov-8 is passionate about specialist off-road and extreme sports products.  Vibram FiiveFingers footwear puts you in touch with the earth beneath your feet and liberates you to move in a natural, healthy way.

Mile markers and time splits provided.

The course includes a variety of surfaces.  The race starts on the track and then opens up onto a field with short grass.  From the fields the course leads onto a gravel drive and then onto a trail through the woods.  There is an uphill and a downhill on the trail.  The trail drops out onto a field.  The field path leads to a very short stretch on pavement and then back onto a field path where there is a short (40 meters) steep uphill and a gradual downhill.  The field path leads back to the track and the last 300 meters is on the track, providing for an exciting finish!  Click here for a course map with a detailed description of the course.  

Water station will be included in the 5k race.

Spikes are not recommended.
